Kit to Apprentice
Normally, aging works in a "real life week = 1 cat moon" structure. With kittens, however, it doesn't quite seem fair to make members wait a whole six weeks for their cats to really come into play. As such, one must wait only two weeks for a kit to be eligible for apprenticeship.
However, these Clans don't just make kits into apprentices. They have to prove themselves ready, just like an apprentice.
In OceanClan, kittens are taken to a nearby stream, and they must wade or swim through. The current isn't very strong, but if a kitten doesn't make it within a certain time frame, or they look like they're about to drown, they will be plucked out of the water and brought to safety. The leader, medicine cat, and mothers of the kits are present, at the very least. Blind kittens are immediately posted under a sensory guard once they pass the test.
In BreezeClan, kittens must run a short distance without tripping or fainting. If they fail to do this, then they must wait a real life week to try again.
In WillowClan, kittens must select which plant is poisonous out of a small group. If they fail, they must wait a real life week to try again.
In CavernClan, kittens must take a kit from a different litter out of the tunnels for an entire day. If the kit dies or is injured under their watch, then they must wait a real life week to try again.
Apprentice to Warrior
In OceanClan, apprentices must swim to the islet off the shore. They will then visit the Soul Waters, a small pond in the middle of the forested area, where they must find two items - a specific rare fish, and a shell that intrigues the apprentice the most. The fish must be killed and brought back along with the shell. Apprentices are deemed to fail if they either fail to bring back both items, or require rescuing from strong currents on the outward journey. At a random time after earning their new name, newly appointed sensory guards will be subjected to another test which determines if they can stay within the Clan or face exile; they only have two chances to prove their worth.
In BreezeClan, apprentices must go on a run with the deputy across the entire territory, with only one break halfway through. If they fall, faint, or otherwise cannot make it, they must wait a real life week to try again.
In WillowClan, apprentices must climb to the first branch of the Life Oak and make it back down safely.
In CavernClan, apprentices are paired up (if there is an odd number, then one will be paired up with either a young warrior or an elder), and they must fight to the death.
Full-Time Mothers (The following applies to all Clans except for CavernClan)
Full-time mothers are mollies that spend the majority of their lives in the nursery, giving birth to and taking care of kittens. While any warrior can have kittens, these cats don't go back to the warriors' den once they're done in the nursery (although, in most Clans, a full-time mother can re-train as a warrior apprentice if she gets sick of the nursery). They receive basic fighting and hunting training.
Female apprentices, at their ceremony, may choose to train under a full-time mother as opposed to a warrior.
Apprentices who choose to train in the nursery must complete the following requirements to be made full-time mothers:
-1 territory exploration thread
-1 hunting training thread
-1 fighting training thread
-2 kit-raising training threads
-Has been an apprentice for at least a real life month
Once this training is complete, the apprentice must pick a litter of kittens to babysit from dawn until dusk. During that time, the mother will be out and about enjoying her day without her kits. If any of the kittens are injured under the apprentice's care (minus a thorn in the paw or something that the apprentice could not have been at fault for), then the apprentice must wait another moon (one real life week) before she can try again.
Female Apprentices in CavernClan
Female apprentices in CavernClan are trained to be mothers. They are not once taken out into the territory, and they are brainwashed into thinking that having and raising kittens is their sole purpose in life. They are taught that toms are their rulers, and that they must never disrespect a tom.
Although it is an extremely rare thing, it is possible for a female cat who shows exceptional strength and intelligence to be made into a warrior apprentice. However, she is sworn to secrecy, and if she dares even make a peep to other females about the world above the tunnels, then she will be killed on the spot.
Female apprentices receive a suffix after 6 moons (6 weeks in real life). This is only to indicate that they are of "legal" breeding age.
